Chris Cornell no fan of JJ, I'd wager
It's an acquired taste that I never fully acquired.
Like any decent band though, it's the deep cuts that really define them. Black Hole Sun annoys the hell out of me, but some of their other stuff is pretty good. The Pixies are my all time favorite group, but if I'd only heard Monkey Gone to Heaven, I'd wonder how people even know who Frank Black and Kim Deal are.
JJ you're not the only one who finds Black Hole Sun to be unbearable.
